Iran officials refuse fresh nuclear swap offer planned
ISTANBUL - Iran has no fresh offer to make for a nuclear fuel change at talks with world powers due to begin on Friday in Istanbul, members of the Iranian delegation told Reuters.
The Saudi owned Al Arabiya TV news channel had reported Iran would suggest a revised version of a deal which was agreed in principle at a previous round of talks in 2009 but then fell apart, but Iranian officials said, there were no such plans.
"I haven't heard about it," Ali Baqeri, a assistant to Iran's nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili, told Reuters as the Iranian delegation arrived in Istanbul on Thursday.
Another official said, "There is no new suggestion. This is something formed by the Western media. Why should we offer such a thing?".
